443 Putti became so incredibly popular on festive tables that in the 18th century they were virtually a synonym for the porcelain genre. Figurines like Winter were also placed on well-proportioned bases to ensure the allegorical series of Children for the table was duly impressive. Here there is even room for the little stove, where the half-naked boy is warming himself. He has his cloak casually thrown over his right shoulder. As part of Franz Anton Bustelli’s Seasons cycle, it looks as though he is already getting ready for spring.
