After Bustelli’s death, other sculptors added musical instruments to some of his putti. Instead of national insignia, the “Children with Turkish Music”, as they are called today, are carrying the drum, flute, triangle or crescent – all instruments that were very en vogue in courts at the time. The little musician is shaking the crescent, appearing to swing his hips cheekily. Indeed, the master sculptor fashioned the small, well-proportioned body in such a way that the figurine is attractive to look at from all angles.
