The demand for putti as table decorations in the 18th century was so great that the decision was made in the Manufactory’s master workshops to add a branch of profane figures to the family of childlike deities by Franz Anton Bustelli. Thus, modified “Putti as Ovidian Gods”, a group of children making music, was created around 1765. Instead of national insignia, this well-fed lad is carrying a large drum. He is carrying the instrument on a strap in front of his naked body and is holding a brush in his left hand and a drumstick in his right, ready to play.
