Chinese Boy with Chime
Chinese Boy with Chime
There is no orchestra without the glockenspiel. Full of enthusiasm, this 12-centimetre-tall Chinese boy hits the triangle with little bells, sings and dances. Small but intricate details, such as the instrument and the mallet in the boy’s hand, were formed freehand individually and then added to the figurine. The dull-glaze painting technique adds to the generous folds of the robe-like garment. In this technique, the orange and lilac colours are carefully applied to the large areas with small sponges and then the figurines are fired.
