Siamese Dancer
Siamese Dancer
A glance at the faces of Maria Delago’s figurines shows how strongly they remain attached to their home environment. This is hardly surprising, for the artist who created these original models between 1954 and 1956 came from South Tyrol. Instead of the pallor characteristic of the nobility, these poetic-looking figures are refreshing with a natural ochre-brown complexion. As is the Siamese dancer, who seems completely immersed in the sequence of her precise steps. One of the manufactory’s master porcelain painters breathes colourful life into her and her fellow figures with red, gold and ochre tones.
