This chandelier is a wonderful example of the style of late Empire. Its gold applications contrast perfectly with the large black bowl of brass that represents the main body of the chandelier. It is decorated with cast ornaments depicting figures of Greek mythology, typical for late Empire of the time of Napoleon. Striking details are the extensive cast and gilded brass ornaments on the bowl, the rim and the canopy. Other lovely details are the elaborate chains from the main body to the lower canopy. The arms sitting on the ring around the bowl are extensively decorated in the shape of feathered swans.
