In the 20th century too, Nymphenburg artists were fascinated by foreign peoples and cultures. South Tyrolean Maria Delago, who studied under Josef Wackerle, succeeded in adding a key component to the repertoire of figurines. Between 1954 and 1956, she created a small group of figures, the Mongols, when looking at which, observers become silent witnesses to very private moments. One of the outstanding characters is this 20-centimetre-tall Mongol with Teacup, which has become a bestseller in recent years.
