Toucan
Toucan
The showpiece of the South American toucan is its large, colourful beak. A number of different working steps and no less than three colour firings are required in the master workshops of the manufactory to provide the bird that resembles a woodpecker with its characteristic red and yellow colouring. Whilst the black of the plumage is dusted onto the body, the red and yellow colours of the beak are applied classically with a brush. The green shades of the branch are applied individually and by hand by the master craftsmen in the studios of the manufactory, as is also the case with the luminous orange red fruits.
