The majestic feathered creature has been enjoying great popularity once more since the Oscar winning filming of Black Swan. But each artistic portrayal reveals itself as a real-life subject – it is about love, power and vanity. This is also the case in Luise Terletzki-Scherf’s trio of swans from 1956. He hands over his crown to her as a symbol of his love, his rival in love is furious, whilst she is still acting coyly. Could there be anything better? The swan in a black biscuit? Very possibly.
