ASP represents a collection of black objects that glimmer on eternity’s delicate edge in the shadow of their own opacity.
Each piece is a highly manufactured relic of contemporary craftsmanship, hand carved, cut, dyed, mixed, poured, painted, pressed, stained, stitched, sealed, and displayed in a room of restored cabinets acquired from a 19th-century convent library.
A modern interpretation taking inspiration from the classic Kunstkammer, ASP is a synesthetic spectacle of observation, education, illumination. It is a place for the writer, the artist, the maker, the collector, the craftsperson, the patron to indulge in an amalgam of apothecary, alchemy, jewelry, lingerie, leather, felt, feather, paper, perfume, and carefully curated artifacts. ASP uses the finest textures, materials, elements to create a new cabinet of curiosity, reimagined for our own modernity.
On the water’s edge, ASP is located in a 19th-century farrier’s workshop in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
